The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on may 18-19, is on a working visit to Cyprus, where he will participate in the 127th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe at the Ministerial level. This was reported by press service of the foreign Ministry.
According to the report, a key theme of the current discussion of foreign Ministers of the 47 COE member countries will be the problems of strengthening democratic security in Europe and, in particular, the role of the organization in addressing today’s conflicts and crises on the continent.
An important place in the discussions will be devoted to the temporary occupation by Russia of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol and the situation of human rights in the Peninsula, as well as the ongoing military aggression of the Russian Federation in the Ukrainian Donbass, said the press service of the MFA of Ukraine.
Reportedly, the discussion will also address issues of migration challenges, fight against terrorism, the state of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe today.
During the meeting there will be a transfer of the Czech presidency in the COE Committee of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus for the next six months.
Recall, 15 may the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin in Brussels took part in the meeting “Ukraine + Group of friends of Ukraine in the EU”, where he told the foreign Ministers of the EU on the escalation of the situation in the Donbass, reported on the progress of Ukraine in reforms and urged the EU to extend sanctions against Russia.
