The Prime Minister will arrive in Jerusalem on may 14 to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu. This should be the end of the crisis, which began six months ago for anti-Israel vote Ukraine to the UN, the TV channel “112 Ukraine”, citing izrus.
Also, the publication noted that Groisman will stay in Israel until may 16, and will meet with various political figures.
“About the upcoming meeting Groisman agreed with Netanyahu on the 13th of March — he called the Israeli Prime Minister, asking him to appoint a date for the visit. During the meeting, Groysman and Netanyahu agreed to the end of 2017 to complete the negotiations on creating a free trade area (FTA) between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of Israel,” the message reads.
Earlier, the “Cursor” wrote that in early February of this year the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
The result of this conversation was, in particular, the agreement on the visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in Jerusalem.
“We have identified priority areas for deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the State of Israel and agreed to take steps to complete the process of signing bilateral free trade Agreements” — said Poroshenko on his page on the social network Facebook.
As previously reported, Groisman visit to Israel was scheduled for the 27-28 of December 2016. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 24 December decided to cancel the meeting in connection with the situation around the vote in the UN security Council.
Ukraine is a friendly country to Israel, and Prime Minister Groysman known as a politician supporting Israel. As the portal Ynet, citing a high-ranking Ukrainian officials during internal meetings it was hoped that Ukraine did not participate in the vote.
However, the President Petro Poroshenko after a telephone conversation with former Vice-President of the United States Joe Biden gave the order to vote for the resolution. According to reliable sources, what is happening proves the involvement of the American administration to backstage preparing to adopt anti-Israel resolutions.
In addition to Ukraine for the adoption of resolution No. 2334 voted 14 countries out of 15 member countries of the UN Security Council. The only country that abstention from participation in the vote were the United States. However, for the first time since 1980, the US has not used its veto in the vote on anti-Israel resolutions.
Initially, the project resolution No. 2334 was proposed by Egypt and received the support of the League of Arab States. It said that “the settlements are a gross violation of international law and pose a substantial obstacle to a peaceful settlement”. In addition to recognition of the illegal settlements in the project was the call for Israeli withdrawal to the borders of 4 June 1967.
The vote on the resolution was scheduled for Thursday, December 22, but postponed indefinitely after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered the Egyptian delegation to the UN to withdraw the draft resolution. It was assumed that this was done at the request of Israel. However, on Friday, December 23 an anti-Israel resolution was put to a vote again at the initiative of New Zealand, Senegal, Malaysia, and Venezuela.
On 23 December, the UN security Council adopted resolution No. 2334, which declared illegal settlements in Judea and Samaria and neighborhoods in East Jerusalem. The resolution called for the cessation of construction in the settlements, and full Israeli withdrawal to the borders of 4 June 1967. 14 members of the security Council (Russia, France, UK, Ukraine, China, Angola, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Senegal, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela) voted in support of the resolution, the U.S. abstained.
The Israeli leadership expressed disappointment at the betrayal of the American administration the traditional principle of the veto anti-Israel resolutions. A political source in Jerusalem said that anti-Israel initiative are President Barack Obama and Secretary of state John Kerry, who went behind the back of Israel along with the Palestinians.
