Gontareva will not return to the national Bank

The head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeria Gontareva, submitted to President Petro Poroshenko’s resignation, plans to return to his duties. This was reported in the NBU.

Gontareva is closed from 11 may 2017. Officially the head of the NBU is is on vacation – now at his own expense.

“Valeria Gontareva made up of professional activities in the National Bank on may 11 this year and no plans to return to work as the head of the National Bank”, – noted in the NBU.

The national Bank reminded that in the framework of the legislation, the NBU is exempted from his post by the Verkhovna Rada on representation of the President.

“From September 26 Gontareva will continue to be in unpaid leave until the approval of her resignation and according to the National Bank information will have to be on vacation in the future, to the relevant decision of the President and Parliament”, – notes the national Bank.

As you know, may 10th was the last working day of Valeriya Gontareva to the post of head of the NBU. According to the Constitution, the head of the NBU appoints Rada on representation of the President for a period of 7 years. Gontareva held the position of head of the NBU almost 3 years. At the moment duties of the head of the national Bank takes the Deputy Gontareva Yakov Smoliy.

Gontareva has previously stated that he had discussed possible candidates for the post of head of the NBU Poroshenko in January, but the names are not called. Thus the public Board of the national Bank Council recommended that Poroshenko three candidates for the position of head of the NBU:

  • the Chairman of the Public Board of the NBU Council Stanislav Arzhevitin;
  • sglavo Supreme expert Council of the Board of the NBU Anatoliy Goulet;
  • the Chairman of the NBU Council Bohdan Danylyshyn.

It was also reported that the likelihood of the appointment of the head of the NBU Chairman of the Board “Raiffeisen Bank Aval” Vladimir Lavrenchuk.
