“Naftogaz of Ukraine” in the critical case can resume procurement of gas from Russia. This was stated by the commercial Director of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Yuriy Vitrenko.
“This is a separate issue, will we take it or will not, but that kind of (critical) case we can take gas from Russia,” — said Vitrenko is in the air “5 channel”. According to him, such situation is possible during the heating season.
He said that given the preliminary decision of the Stockholm arbitration suit against Russia on the gas contract, Ukraine could buy Russian gas.

While Vitrenko has guaranteed uninterrupted transit of gas to Europe. According to him, there is no reason to talk about the risks of transit, as capital investments in the Ukrainian gas transportation system are growing.
As reported yesterday, the Minister of energy of Ukraine Igor Nasalik admitted that Ukraine can cause problems with gas transit. As explained Nasalik, difficulties may arise due to the lack of investment in the Ukrainian gas transportation system despite the fact that the volumes of gas transit could increase significantly, if the West will block the construction of the Russian pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
Recall that Ukraine refused from purchases of Russian gas in November 2015. In 2016, Ukraine has passed the heating season, by purchasing gas from European Union on the reverse.
