Ukraine greatly reduce the tariff for gas transit

“Naftogaz of Ukraine” plans by 2020 to reduce the tariff for gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS). This was announced by commercial Director of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Yuriy Vitrenko, reports Deutsche Welle.

“From 2020, tariffs will be reduced to about one-tenth (from the existing Ed.) and this will make transit through the Ukrainian GTS gas transport system is much cheaper than “Nord stream – 2,” – said Vitrenko.

He criticized plans for the construction of “Nord stream – 2” as economically unjustified. At the same time, for reducing the rate of transit of gas via Ukraine required a guaranteed annual volume of transportation is about 110 billion cubic meters of gas, said dpa.

Besides, “Naftogaz” hope to receive from “Gazprom” billions in compensation. Soon the Stockholm arbitration court will announce the verdict on the mutual lawsuits of “Naftogaz” and “Gazprom” on the gas contract of 2009. The Ukrainian side, in particular, requires Gazprom to pay for the transportation of gas and to pay compensation for failure to use agreed in the contract the minimum transit volumes.

We will remind, according to “Ukrtransgaz”, in 2016, the transit of natural gas through the Ukrainian GTS to European consumers increased by 23% and amounted to 82.2 billion cubic meters.
