Scotland asks for permission from Britain to hold a new referendum in which the Scots could decide on the future of the country. This is stated in the statement from the first Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon.
“In the beginning of this week the Scottish Parliament voted to give the Scots the right to make a choice about the future of the country. This decision was taken due to the fact that the British government agreed to exclude Scotland is not only the EU but also from the single market. All this against the wishes of the majority of the people who live here,” she said.
Sturgeon said that today she letter informed the British government of the desire of Scotland to have the right to accept Brexit or instead to become an independent country.
“I think we can all agree that the future of our country is our choice,” she said, adding that he hoped that the Prime Minister of Britain, Teresa may change her mind on this issue.
As you know, Prime Minister Theresa may said that “now is not the time for the second referendum on Scottish independence”.
We will remind, in the beginning of this week the Scottish Parliament supported the government’s initiative to send a request to London to hold the second referendum on independence.
