Zika virus can carry 35 species of mosquito ecologists

Carriers of dangerous zika virus can be 35 mosquito species, seven of which are found in the United States.

This is the ecologists published their study in the journal eLife.

It was already known that the virus zika carry several species of mosquitoes of the genus Aedes, mainly Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Researchers from the University of Georgia on the basis of mathematical models that use information about related zika viruses and their vectors, calculated that to carry the virus, Zeke is capable of 35 species of mosquitoes.

While scientists recommend the use of the results obtained for prioritization during testing of different species of mosquitoes on the ability to be carriers. Despite the fact that to have contracted the virus is not too dangerous in pregnant women, it can lead to severe abnormalities of the fetus, so it is important to find a way to avoid possible infection.
