In a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged the Russian leader to influence the militants to cease fire in the Donbass, the press service of the Chancellor.
In Berlin noted that during the talks discussed the implementation of Minsk arrangements for the settlement of the situation in the Donbas.
“The participants expressed the hope that fighting will soon completely stopped. The German Chancellor appealed to the Russian President in order to use its influence on separatists”, – stated in the message.
In addition, the two leaders commended the special monitoring mission of the OSCE, which contributed to the improvement of the humanitarian situation.
Recall, as reported in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel during a telephone conversation agreed on new steps to resolve the situation in the Donbas. They also expressed concern about the escalation of the conflict, in which human victims were, and the destruction of settlements.
It was also reported that on 2 February, the UN security Council at the request of Ukraine gathered meeting, which reviewed the situation due to the deterioration of the situation in the plant.
