Given the behavior of the Kremlin, no one in the USA would be willing to lift sanctions
Former US special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker already said that sees no possibility of negotiations with Russia on Crimea. He calls a possible attack of the aggressor with the Crimean direction “is too dramatic a step for the Kremlin,” and believes that this will not happen.
He told about it in interview “to the Crimea.Realities”.
“Of course, Russia has all of this (attack mainland Ukraine from Crimea. – Ed.) but this is too dramatic a step. They are making a huge effort to still deny the invasion of Ukraine. If they decide to make further steps, these efforts may not be enough. Therefore, I think this is unlikely to happen,” said the American diplomat.
Walker also noted that Russia is against Ukraine aggression is not only on the battlefield, but also in the rear – hybrid methods.
“All this comes in the form of violence, such as armed forces, intelligence, and cyber attacks. Moreover, they resort to economic fraud and corruption to continue to weaken Ukraine. I think that’s what Russia does. Can’t say that we have reached some sort of peaceful or static situation. The conflict is still actively evolving,” he said.

Former US special envoy to Ukraine has made it clear that America will not lift sanctions against Russia until full de-occupation of territories.
“By this time the sanctions will remain in place. Of course, there’s always the possibility that a new administration or a new Congress decides to change something, but I highly doubt it. I think, given Russia’s behavior, no one will have neither the mood nor the desire to remove Russia from sanctions. They will act as long as Russia is illegally occupying Crimea”, concluded Volker.
