The current relationship between Poland and Ukraine – the worst in 25 years. This was stated by former Polish foreign Minister, the leader of the largest opposition party Civic platform, Grzegorz Schetyna during a debate in the Sejm, according to Gazeta.pl.
“Relations with Ukraine – the worst in 25 years. History is a hard thing, but to describe the story – it is the task of historians, the role of politicians in building relationships,” said Schetyna.
During the same debate, the acting Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski said Poland would continue supporting Ukraine in its Euro-Atlantic aspirations and the fight against aggression of the Russian Federation, however, “will not lose sight of the historical issues”.
We will remind, earlier the leader of the ruling party of Poland “law and Justice” Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that the future of Polish-Ukrainian relations “in question” because of the interpretations of Ukraine’s own history, in particular the role of the UPA.
In addition, Kaczynski believes that the glorification of Stepan Bandera in Ukraine may prevent the European aspirations of Ukraine.
