The US President Donald trump said the United States out of the open skies Treaty, accusing Russia of violating its terms, AFP reports. “Russia does not adhere to the contract. So, until they begin to adhere to its terms, we go,” said he.
Earlier it was reported that the trump has notified the international partners of its intention to withdraw the United States from the Treaty on open skies. This agreement allows more than 30 countries to carry out unarmed observation flights over the territories of each other to build trust and prevent conflicts by monitoring the movements of military units and measures of arms control.
The US administration wants to denounce the Treaty, because it believes that Russia violate it, and because the footage of the flights you can get faster and cheaper with the help of military or civilian satellites of USA. According to the Russian foreign Ministry, the US withdrawal from the agreement will violate the delicate balance of interests of its members. “As a result, suffer not only the open skies Treaty, but the European security architecture as a whole,” reads the official statement of the Ministry.
In an interview with TV channel “Russia 24” spokesperson of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Moscow expects Washington to explain the alleged President of the trump intentions. According to her, this is not the first case when US administration deals a blow to international stability and security: “Everyone following the attack on international law is applied more accurately.
