In Ukraine came into force the law on education

In Ukraine on September 28, comes into force the law “On education”, which provides for 12 years of education in the school and enhancing the role of the Ukrainian language.

He determines that the language of the educational process in educational institutions is the state language, but in accordance with the educational program can be taught one or more courses two or more languages – the state, in English, the other official languages of the European Union.

Persons belonging to national minorities guaranteed the right of education in native language along with the Ukrainian language in separate classes (groups) of public institutions of preschool and primary education.

At the same time representatives of national minorities, who had begun teaching at the school until 2018, continue to receive it by the old rules, with a gradual increase in the number of items in the Ukrainian language.

The law provides that a full secondary education will last for 12 years and consist of primary education with a duration of four years basic secondary education lasting five years, which is obtained in the gymnasium, and specialized secondary education with duration of three years, which comes to the Lyceum or the institutions of professional education.

Specialized secondary education (high school) may be two directions − educational and professional.

Training of students in the 12-year schools for primary education begins September 1, 2018, for basic secondary education 1 September 2022 and to specialized secondary education − September 1, 2027.

Also, the law provides for raising the minimum teachers ‘ salaries up to three times the minimum wage, which takes effect in 2018, and should be implemented in phases until 2023.

On education funding, according to the document, from the state budget, local budgets and sources, not prohibited by law, will be allocated 7% of GDP.
