In the European Parliament signed an extension of trade quotas for Ukraine

In the European Parliament signed the decision on granting Ukraine additional trade preferences. The signing ceremony took place in Strasbourg in the room to the Protocol of the European Parliament.

The document was signed by the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani and the Vice-Minister for Affairs of the European Union presidency of the EU Estonia Matti Maasikas.

The ceremony was also attended by the Rapporteur of the European Parliament on this issue Jaroslav Walesa.

The document must be published in the EU Official journal, after which it will enter into force. It is expected that this will happen at the end of September.

We will remind, Council of the European Union (EU) adopted the decision to provide Ukraine with additional trade preferences.

In particular, established the following annual quotas:

  • for honey – 2,5 thousand tons;
  • processed tomatoes – 3 thousand tons;
  • wheat – 65 thousand tons;
  • corn – 625 thousand tons;
  • barley – 325 thousand tons.

In Ukraine expect additional trade preferences may come into force in the autumn. According to the Ministry of agrarian policy and food, the economic effect of the adoption by the European Parliament decision to increase the annual quota for duty-free import of Ukrainian agricultural products to EU will be about 196,95 million dollars.
