A case of treason Yanukovych: the trial is again postponed

Obolonskiy district court of Kiev partially satisfied the petition of the defender of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych, suspected of treason, Maxim, Gerasko to grant him additional time to familiarize themselves with the case materials.

The court adjourned the session until 14:00 on September 21.

The presiding judge Vladislav Devyatko stressed that since Gerasim had to start with the introduction of more 18 August, this time is sufficient for familiarization with the case.

As reported at the previous meeting, August 17, a panel of judges Obolonskiy district court of Kiev satisfied the petition of the lawyer of the former Yanukovych Vitaly Mesecke about rejection.

The court also instructed the Regional centers of free secondary legal aid in Kiev to appoint the former President of the new lawyer.

Yanukovych is accused of treason, of aiding the authorities of the Russian Federation, intentional acts committed for the purpose of modifying the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine in violation of the order established by the Constitution, waging aggressive war, crimes under part 1 article 111, part 5 article 27, part 3 of article 110, part 2 of article 437 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

On 29 June the Board of Obolon district court has satisfied the petition of the prosecution to the special court proceedings in the case of Yanukovych.

We will remind, the General Prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko said that former President Viktor Yanukovych and ex-Minister of justice Oleksandr Lavrynovych informed about the suspicion of a seizure of state power in Ukraine through a constitutional coup in 2010.
