Poroshenko has tightened the punishment for illegal logging

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on strengthening of responsibility for illegal logging. Such a modification is provided for, the President signed the law “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine on the protection of forests under the framework of the Convention on the protection and sustainable development of the Carpathians”. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

“The implementation of the law will contribute to the preservation of natural values of European importance, in particular of forests, in the framework of the implementation of the requirements of the framework Convention on the protection and sustainable development of the Carpathians” – noted in the presidential Administration.

In particular, the law clearly defines the concepts of “natural forests”, “forests”, “quotidiana” and establishes a special legal regime for their conservation and protection.

The law prohibits all types of logging, construction of buildings, road construction, grazing, commercial harvesting of forest products, transportation vehicles (other than public roads and the forest guards). For violation of such requirements will be subject to administrative liability.

The law also amends the criminal code of Ukraine concerning strengthening of responsibility for illegal felling of trees or shrubs in the forest, protective and other forest plantings in nature reserves or in the territories and objects of natural reserve Fund.

We will remind, this law, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted 23 may.
