Russia violated international law by invading Ukraine – former US Ambassador

Russia’s actions in Ukraine has led not only to sanctions but also the deterioration of relations with Europe and the United States. This was stated in an interview with radio station “Echo of Moscow” former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft, reports UNIAN.

“From our point of view, of course, had a lot of problems (in the development of relations between Russia and the United States – ed.). But a fundamental issue connected with Ukraine. And the Russian annexation of Crimea and actions in the Donbass has led not only to sanctions but also to the large gap not only between Russia and the United States, but also between Russia and Europe. And, of course, the problem is still there,” said Tefft.

He also criticized Russia’s actions against Ukraine.

“Some, of course, say: let’s get small let’s start. Of course, we can make small, but until we resolve these fundamental problems, from our point of view, the European point of view is… Russia violated international law by invading Ukraine and Donbass. And we believe that it was wrong. And while we do not resolve, the problem will not disappear”, – the diplomat said.

As told people’s Deputy Irina Lutsenko, a new bill on the reintegration of Donbass Ukraine is ready to recognize Russia as an aggressor country.
