DTEK Prydniprovska TPP passes gas coal: how to decrease the impact on the environment

DTEK completes the development of project documentation for transfer of power units №7 and №8 rocket gas brand of coal. The use of a new power plant type of fuel will not lead to increased emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. This is evidenced by preliminary calculations of the designer, OOO “kotloturboprom” for work units at a gas coal.

As part of the project documentation on translation anthracite power units №7 and №8 for combustion of coal gas Marie was developed in the section “Assessment of environmental impact” (EIA). According to calculations, the volume of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere during operation of the power units of DTEK Prydniprovska TPP on coal gas will be reduced in comparison with the work of the power units at the anthracite rank of coal.

The total reduction will be about 2.2 tons of emissions annually from two power units of 150 MW. A new kind of fuel will allow to reduce concentration of pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. In particular, at the expense of more qualitative characteristics of the gas of coal, which is mined at DTEK Pavlogradugol and has many years of burnt on gas TPP of DTEK. Coal brand “G” Pavlograd field is a highly reactive fuel, is characterized by the best abilities combustion and lower sulphur content than previously supplied to the station of low-reactive coal group.

Project engineering is expected to reduce the concentration of nitrogen oxides is not less than 20%, and it is 200-300 mg each m3 of flue gas, sulfur – 270-285 mg/n m3.

In addition to reducing emissions, the translation of systems of two power units of DTEK Prydniprovska TPP on gas brand of coal will allow to receive ash materials with better physical and chemical properties, which can be used in construction.

Recall that in conditions of shortage of anthracite coal group and the state policy on rejection of imported fuel, DTEK made a strategic decision to phase the conversion of anthracite Pridneprovskaya and Krivorozhskaya TPP power on domestic coal gas.
