Putin has extended sanctions against the West

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on extension of counter-sanctions in response to similar actions of the West. The relevant document posted on Russia’s official website of legal information.

The document States that the response will be extended for the whole of 2018.

“To extend from 1 January to 31 December 2018 the retaliatory special economic measures stipulated by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 6 August 2014 No. 560 “On applying certain special economic measures to ensure Russia’s security” and extended by decrees of the President”, – said in the decree of the Russian leader.

It is noted that the document comes into force from the day of its signing.

As it became known on 28 June, the Council of the European Union adopted a decision to extend for another six months economic sanctions against Russia for non-compliance with the Minsk agreements. The EU sanctions, therefore, extended until 31 January 2018.

Today it became known that the American senators have fixed the technical issues in the bill to expand sanctions against Russia, which he could not get to the House of representatives.
