Parubiy assessed the prospects of Ukraine’s accession to NATO

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy believes that Ukraine will join NATO and will be able to ensure the safety of its territorial integrity against Russian aggression. This he said today at a press conference, the press service of the Parliament.

“Yes, NATO membership is an ambitious goal. But the Association agreement and a valid visa already proved that Ukraine has learned to succeed. For us nothing is impossible. And we will see the Ukrainian flag in front of the headquarters of NATO in Brussels,” – said paruby.

He cited the experience of former Soviet countries to join NATO, which are now safe.

“As the experience of post-Soviet countries in the conditions of Russian aggression only Euro-Atlantic collective security structures are an effective mechanism for the protection of national sovereignty and territorial integrity”, – said the speaker.

He also added that adhering to the course on NATO membership, Ukraine will continue modernization of the armed forces, the introduction of technical and organizational standards.

We will remind, on 24 may this year the Verkhovna Rada ratified the administrative arrangements on the protection of information with restricted access between the government of Ukraine and NATO.

In addition, on 8 June, the Parliament supported the bill on return of Ukraine’s course of accession to NATO.

In turn, the Alliance commented on the decision of Ukraine’s course towards NATO.
