Switzerland will provide € 5 million to the establishment of gender equality in Ukraine

Executive Director the structure of “UN Women”, the Deputy UN Secretary-General Phumzile MS mlambo-Ngcuka and the Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine Martin Hagstrom signed an agreement on the financing of the project “Gender equality in the national reform and the establishment of peace and security in Ukraine.”

“The project involves a budget of five million euros and will last for four years”, – the press-service of the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze.

The funding will be aimed at providing a comprehensive national machinery to implement gender equality in sector reforms through support for the newly-formed office of the Government Plenipotentiary for gender issues and assistance in the implementation of the National action plan “Women, peace, security”.

Klympush-Tsintsadze stressed that the priorities for this project are defined: the monitoring of the current state of gender issues in Ukraine and the dynamics of social change, the implementation of pilot project on introduction of Advisory positions in the security agencies, increase institutional capacity and improve coordination of all bodies to ensure gender equality.
