Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite sees no reason for easing of EU sanctions against Russia. She declared it on a press-conferences in Kharkov, reports “Ukrainian truth”.
“From our point of view, from the point of view of NATO, the European Union and the OSCE, the situation on the Eastern borders worsens, demonstrative aggressive behavior still remains. Therefore, no conditions to weaken any sanctions,” – said Grybauskaite.
She recalled that the United States recently extended sanctions against the Russian Federation, and assured that the new administration of Donald trump understands that “without peace in Ukraine will not be peace in Europe and the world.”
“The aggressor, no matter under what name, still the aggressor. In this issue, our European position and the American position are identical”, – said the President of Lithuania.
We will remind, the Committee of permanent representatives of the EU decided to extend sanctions against the occupied Crimea.
It is expected that soon will also be continued economic sanctions against Russia imposed over its role in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
Earlier, Dalia Grybauskaite called the main threat to the Baltic countries and Poland “the existence of Russia and Belarus in the East”.
