Artificial intelligence has learned to predict death

Artificial intelligence has learned to predict the death of the patient on the results of computer tomography of the chest.

On their study, said experts from Adelaide University and published it in the journal Scientific reports.

Training system on the basis of 417 shots to the chest, which experts have identified a total of more than 15 thousand characteristic peculiarities, which had to pay attention.

After training, the system was tested on 48 patients older than 60 years. Artificial intelligence was able to predict their death within the next five years with an accuracy of 69%. Researchers are unable to say with certainty that it is possible to “see” the system, but one thing is clear – she sees something that doctors can not.

The creators of the system hope that in the future such algorithms will allow for accurate and timely forecasts that will determine the best method of helping the patient.
