The Verkhovna Rada endorsed the draft law on quotas of Ukrainian language, binding to increase its share on the Ukrainian TV channels to 75%. The corresponding decision in the second reading and generally supported by 269 deputies, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

It is reported that now the channels will be obliged to increase the share of Ukrainian-language content to 75% of the total.

We will remind, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced its intention to introduce quotas for Ukrainian language in the broadcast of the TV channels.

“Step by step, the share of Ukrainian language in the educational process increases. I want to emphasize that I will soon propose to apply this technology to the TV, where the presence of the Ukrainian language is unacceptably low. Last summer, I turned to the television industry, urging them to organize themselves in this matter. Unfortunately, not all I said. Now he needs to tell the legislator,” – said the President.
