Immortal regiment. The resurrection of the dead or playing with witchcraft?

From the point of view of rational consciousness, the action “Immortal regiment” is quite modern, acceptable, relevant, wonderful, interesting, touching and real “holiday with tears on eyes”. Especially if we remember that it began not as an official, which are driving the public sector in a “voluntary-compulsory” manner, but as a truly national ritual of remembrance of the war dead grandfathers and great grandfathers.

Yes, and its the spread of “Immortal regiment” is obliged not to someone, and the private censorship of the opposition Tomsk TV TV-2. Now often Putin’s new cults connected with the Victory-1945 (“St. George-Vlasov” ribbons, the annual parades on red square, the attempt to turn the victory themes in the new civil religion) see the terrible manifestations of Stalinism or dull Brezhnev’s “scoop.” Obviously, the “Immortal regiment” is not Stalinism and “stagnation.” In some ways it is even to implement the concept of “people’s war”.

However, for the carriers of consciousness in which there is the reality of the irrational, the “Immortal regiment” is a magical ritual, nakleikami the energy level of war and death. Many of the dead in the war (if not most) in terms of East Slavic mythology, can be considered “zalojniki the dead”, the idea of which was described by the famous pre-revolutionary ethnographer Dmitry Zelenin.

“Salonie dead” — people who die or died as a premature, unnatural death, their souls so hard to find peace after physical death. Ethnographers note that in folk belief, the “hostage” was considered lost in the war and buried in mass graves. And fell in battle the soldiers of the red army, moreover, remained incorrigible in the Orthodox (or other religious) ceremony. It is noteworthy that the Russian Orthodox Church, now so involved in the various ideological projects and “spiritual scrapie” without much enthusiasm “the Immortal regiment”: for the Church in this practice there is a lot of murky and dubious.

But it seems that the apotheosis of the “Immortal regiment” are over: according to the survey “Levada-Center”, the popularity of this project in Russia for the year fell from 67% to 26%. And there was a means to finally finish this originally national grass-roots initiative: to include in the “Immortal regiment”, in addition to the heroes of world war II, and also “heroes” “LDNR” — like Givi and Motorola.

If the generation born in the 1970s, still had the ability to communicate with the living veterans — with their grandparents, subsequent generations have not found those alive (with a few exceptions). And not to cut the connection times that this war did not seem as distant and abstract as, say, the war of 1812 or the battle of Kulikovo, it was decided to raise psychological involvement of youth in such a specific way that looks like a “common cause” and the “resurrection of the fathers” of the Russian philosopher Nikolai Fedorov.

Maybe the action “Immortal regiment” would have a very different impact and other consequences if its basis would not be marching with the large-format photographs, and individual and collective funeral prayers for the fallen heroes. However, in a country where Orthodoxy is trying to make the main “spiritual clamps” to this format for some reason no one thought of.
