Lutsenko: Tomorrow will begin an unprecedented for Ukraine the court trial Yanukovych

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that tomorrow, may 4, will begin an unprecedented for Ukraine the trial of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych.

“The Prosecutor General’s office on behalf of the state of Ukraine will be to blame the former President for high treason. This process not only against Yanukovych. This process is also in relation to his Kremlin masters, which he used as a Fig leaf Yanukovych signed the document, in order to occupy Ukrainian Crimea, to pour the blood of the Ukrainian Donbass and try to bring to their knees our country,” – said Lutsenko.

“I believe that the upcoming court decision is very important not only from the point of view of the highest justice, but also as a warning to all those who in future will dare to take the path of treason,” – said the Prosecutor General.

As earlier reported, Lutsenko stated that this court “will differ radically from political judgment, the time of Yanukovych, through which I was obliged to pass in their time”.

“I am confident that this process will be respected all the rights of a defendant, guaranteed by the Ukrainian legislation”, – said the Prosecutor General.

Obolonskiy district court of Kiev on may 4 will begin preliminary hearing on the charges of treason, ex-President Yanukovych.

The hearing is scheduled for 10.00. Automated distribution of cases already identified the panel of judges presiding the President of the court Vladislav Devyatko. The court session will be held in public.

Recall, 28 Nov 2016 Lutsenko in the Svyatoshinsky district court of Kiev Yanukovych read out a notice of suspicion in Commission of high treason, of aiding the authorities of the Russian Federation, intentional acts committed for the purpose of modifying the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine in violation of the order established by the Constitution, waging aggressive war, crimes under part 1 article 111, part 5 article 27, part 3, article 110, part 2 of article 437 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

20 January 2017 Pechersk district court of Kyiv allowed the Prosecutor General’s office to conduct the correspondence, the investigation of treason Yanukovych.

March 14, Lutsenko said that Kiev Pechersk district court could not consider the indictment of treason against Yanukovych, because all judges participated in the consideration of certain issues within the framework of a pretrial investigation in this case.

At the same time, the Ukrainian prosecutors in this trial will represent not only the state of Ukraine. They will speak on behalf of thousands of dead, tens of thousands wounded, millions of refugees from Ukrainian Crimea and Donbass.

“This is not a process of revenge, because we demand justice and let the rule of law,” – said Lutsenko.
