Nasalik: today in Ukraine there is no critical small reserves of coal for power plants

Today in Ukraine there is no critical mass of coal stocks at power plants. This was stated by Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasalik, the TV channel “112 Ukraine” .

“United energy system we do not have the critical mass (of coal reserves – ed.). But, to be clear about how the volume in question: Ukraine per day burns about 85-100 thousand tons of coal. 40 thousand of these tone anthracite group. Therefore, these measures made state of emergency was made with the purpose to minimize the use of anthracite coal at power generating stations”, – he said.

We remind that on 15 February the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced emergency measures in the energy system of Ukraine.

As you know, in Ukraine already the third week continues the blockade of railway lines that delivered coal from the occupied territories of Donbass. Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said that he sees no alternative supply of coal from enterprises in the occupied Donbas in order to ensure the heat supply.
