How Putin became an ally of Ukraine

The statement of the former Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Denis Boronenkov that Advisor to President Putin, Vladislav Surkov, opposed the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, became a sensation not only to Ukrainian but also to Russian observers.

How could it be that “the curator of Ukraine” in the Russian leadership does not advocate the exclusion of the territory of Ukraine? Surkov is a secret friend of Ukraine?

I would like to reassure detractors as Ukrainian and Russian friends Surkov. He is no friend of Ukraine. He is the real enemy. But smart and prudent. These qualities he differs from the “master”.

It Surkov has provided the practical implementation of the operation to separation of the Crimea — coordinated political efforts have created a platform of support for the occupation on the Peninsula, agreed with future “leaders” of the Crimea, or intimidate them.

But Surkov was doing it not for the fact that the Crimea became part of the Russian Federation. The Peninsula had become a trap for Ukraine, the self-proclaimed state with Russian support.

It would be important signal to Ukraine and the West — after the Maidan separated Crimea, in turn, other regions of the country, are in favour of friendship with Russia, for the Russian world. The separation of Crimea was not supposed to be the end of the operation. In Kharkov, comrade Surkov Boris Rappoport is actively working on the project “new Russia” — another self-proclaimed state.

Her office must go through the scenario of Crimea — “the people of new Russia” likewise, wants to get rid of the “Ukrainian oppression” as “people of Crimea”. And in this moment, when the Ukrainian state is dying, appears on the scene he. Not Surkov, of course. Putin. And prewcribed Ukraine on a Federal basis.

Let’s just imagine that the plan Surkov implemented. The Crimea — no not Federal district, and “independent Republic”. Russia recognizes it part of Ukraine, but declares that the territorial integrity of neighbouring countries can be restored only if the “usurpers in Kiev will hear the Crimea.”

At this time, the similar processes start in the East. Their members are not for separation from Ukraine and joining Russia, and that they also heard. The West puts pressure not only on Russia, which demands to stop supporting the rebels, but Ukraine, which is to establish an effective negotiation process with the residents of the breakaway regions.

Violations of international law by Russia. Sanctions also are introduced, and if introduced very limited. Let’s just remember the sanctions imposed against Russia when it annexed Crimea — and imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t formally annexed.

Putin in his quest to become a “collector of land” confused card sane part of his environment. Entourage wanted to keep Ukraine on the hook, and Putin believed that Ukraine is no and there is enough of his words to the “artificial state” disappeared from the map.

He just didn’t understand what he wants Surkov. While I’m not even going to claim that Surkov. I just want to state that this position is “independent Crimea” — in the Russian leadership was prevalent and was changed 24 hours sole decision of Putin.

Thus, the whole situation was turned 180 degrees. Was sent a completely different signal to the West. Putin could not be considered a mediator, even when he was trying to mimic this role in the Donbas. Besides, Russia became a violator of international law and it can not be denied even its Western well-wishers. “The second Georgia” failed.

Was sent a completely different signal to the Donbass. When I started to turn around operation in the East of Ukraine, supporters of Moscow had hoped that the region will be annexed to Russia Crimea for example. They even had not occurred, that the annexation of Crimea — not law, but an accident.

Therefore, the uncertainty of the status of Donbass trap not only Ukraine, but also Russia. Russia cannot afford long to occupy the Donbass, as the mismatch between expectations and reality creates a tension of its own borders.

But most importantly was sent a completely different signal to Ukraine. The Ukrainians at first with a certain lack of understanding followed what happened in the Crimea. Many remembered that the inhabitants of the Peninsula has always been distinguished by Pro-Russian views and were ready to believe that “the Crimean spring” is a natural reaction to the Maidan.

Such faith, moreover, fueled by propaganda, could create a good soil for “national reconciliation” at Moscow’s mediation. But when Putin decided to Annex Crimea, doubts have disappeared: it is an occupation. And it disappeared not only in Kyiv or Lviv, but also in the Dnieper river and Odessa. Thus began the Patriotic war of the Ukrainian people against the enemy.

As we also need to ignore the rhetoric of the Russian authorities and propaganda has not changed. Russia — not party to the conflict, federalization, changes to the Constitution — all of it was harvested before the decision of Putin. And when Russian leaders have continued to repeat these points after the annexation of Crimea, they did not notice that look ridiculous.

Because you cannot demand that the country changes in the Constitution to ensure the rights of “Russian-speaking population” and the recognition that one of the regions inhabited by this population that is attached to another country. And not just to another country but to a country that is all it requires.

You can love or hate Vladislav Surkov, but it is impossible not to admit that he — like many other representatives of the Russian government is acting in Imperial interests of the state. Our luck is that Putin is acting contrary to those interests.

If I didn’t know his biography, I would have thought that the Russian President really recruited by foreign intelligence services. Because his every action since then as he was emancipated from the “curators” of the environment, Yeltsin pushes Russia into a trap from which she cannot escape. I sometimes think that historians of the future will be to consider Putin the President of Ukraine or China, not Russia.

Why is he acting like? Of course, not because recruited. He had so much money that he could recruit half of the West — even if not the better half.

The fact is that the President of Russia has long lived in the twilight world, which I would describe as “the world of Prince Vladimir” — the Prince of Kiev, of course.

Life in this world from which consciousness Putin has no way out, and push the Russian President into hasty actions that lead to catastrophic consequences for his country.

Vladislav Surkov, and if opposed the annexation of the Crimea, were our treacherous enemy. Vladimir Putin, who has brought our country so much grief and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, remains our objective ally.

To destroy the aggressor state when he can.
