Tusk stands for the extension of sanctions against Russia

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and the President of the European Council Donald Tusk at a meeting in Brussels discussed implementation of visa-free regime and the process of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, as well as the security situation in the Donbas.

“Ukraine has fulfilled all criteria for bizwise. Look forward to the implementation of the EU its obligations without delay”, – quotes the Ukrainian press service of the Cabinet.

In turn, Tusk noted that the EU is closely monitoring the results of activities of the Ukrainian government. “The European Council appreciated the results of the reforms of the Ukrainian government”, – he said.

In addition, the sides discussed the security situation in the East of Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that the intensification of fighting and the latest developments in the plant jeopardize the whole process of settlement of the conflict in the Donbas. In this regard, Tusk expressed his full support to Ukraine in the peace process and praised the “efficient government action is to ensure the life and the restoration of normal life of the city.”

“During the talks, the Prime Minister received the support of the President of the European Council on the need to continue the sanctions policy towards the Russian Federation”, – said the press service of the Cabinet. What Groysman said: “Sanctions are a punishment, and the lifting of sanctions – reward for the renunciation of aggression and willingness to adhere to generally accepted rules of international law, sovereignty, territorial integrity of independent States and democratic values”.
