Azerbaijan and Ukraine have exchanged a ban on goods from Karabakh and Donbass

Azerbaijani and Ukrainian sides have agreed to restrictions on the supply of goods from outside the control of the authorities in Baku and Kiev territories of Donbass and Nagorno-Karabakh. It was declared to Agency “Interfax” the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko.

He noted that goods can flow in if they are licensed by the authorities in Baku and Kiev.

“During the visit of President Petro Poroshenko in Baku, the two presidents gave instructions to the heads of the customs structures of Azerbaijan and Ukraine to meet and discuss the question of the admission of goods coming from the occupied territories of the two countries. The heads of the customs agencies met and developed a mechanism whereby goods from these territories can be supplied if licensed by the Central authorities, Kiev and Baku,” – said Mishchenko.

He explained that goods from the Donbas in Azerbaijan can enter only with the permission of the Ukrainian authorities and, accordingly, the same scheme from Karabakh to Ukraine.

“For example, marking on the champagne. If it says Ukraine, Artemovsk plant (Donbass), then everything is fine. But if some kind of “Novorossiya” or something like that, then of course Azerbaijan not to accept them. A similar approach is applied to goods imported from Nagorno-Karabakh,” – said Mishchenko.

“Rules and circulars began to act immediately, as the presidents gave instructions. There is no need to sign any intergovernmental agreements. The document was signed by the heads of customs authorities”, – the Ambassador added.

As yesterday said Mishchenko, Ukraine intends to purchase Azerbaijan military equipment. Baku is going to come a large Ukrainian delegation at the talks on military-technical cooperation.
