President Petro Poroshenko will submit to Parliament proposals on amendments to the law on the Ombudsman. About it reports a press-service of Administration of the President.
As noted, on July 31, the President signed the Law “On the constitutional Court of Ukraine”.
“This law is aimed at implementing changes to the Constitution regarding the organization and activities of the constitutional Court, status of judges of the constitutional Court and the Institute of constitutional complaint as a new additional mechanism of protection of the rights and freedoms of the individual. Without this law these progressive constitutional innovations can’t make in practice, and therefore the delay in the introduction of its action is unacceptable. However, in concluding provisions of the law deputies have been included norms on the procedure of appointment and dismissal of the Ombudsman. This does not apply to the functioning of the constitutional Court. However, the Parliament adopted the law on the constitutional Court as a whole with these regulations and therefore the introduction of the law into effect without them it is impossible”, – stated in the message.

As noted, the issue of procedure of appointment and dismissal of the Ombudsman requires a separate solution. “So in the near future the President will submit to Parliament proposals on amendments to the Law “On the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights” and the Law “On Regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine” regarding the appointment and dismissal of the Ombudsman”, – stated in the message.
Earlier it was reported that the vote on the appointment of the new Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada on human rights postponed indefinitely.
