Dialogue with Russia will contribute to resolving many conflicts, said Monday the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Speaking at the ambassadors ‘ conference in Ankara, the Minister said that cooperation with Russia is important for Turkey, but it does not imply a revision of Turkey’s position on Ukraine and Georgia.
“We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia. We do not recognize the annexation of the lands of Ukraine,” – said Cavusoglu, who was quoted by Turkish media.
Speaking about the Syrian conflict, he said that “Turkey, like no other country in the region, is interested in stability in Syria.”
“Ankara makes every effort to spread the ceasefire on the entire territory of Syria. We support the Geneva process on Syria and at the same time fighting against ISIS in the North of the country,” – said Cavusoglu.
He assured that “Turkey will continue to actively support the territorial and political integrity of Syria.”
In a speech to Turkish diplomats, the Minister said that he expects the next us administration to consent to the extradition to Turkey of a preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara accuses the organization last year of a failed coup attempt.
