The IMF told us what to expect from the new head of the NBU

The conduct of the National Bank of monetary, exchange rate and financial policies have strengthened the economy

The new NBU head Kirill Shevchenko should ensure the independence of the Central Bank and support inherent in the NBU high level of professionalism, said the permanent representative of the International monetary Fund (IMF) in Ukraine Jost Longman.

“We wish him success at the head of the national Bank in these difficult economic conditions,” he said.

According to the representative of the Fund in recent years, the efficient conduct of the National Bank of monetary, exchange rate and financial policies strengthened the economy of Ukraine.

“An extremely important that the independence of the National Bank, the NBU and the inherent high level of professionalism was maintained and under the leadership of new head,” said Longman in a statement.

Recall that earlier we wrote about the fact that the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine expects to continue cooperation with the National Bank after the election for the position of head of the NBU Kirill Shevchenko.

Let us add that the previous head of the NBU Yakov Smoliy wrote a resignation letter in which he complained of political pressure. In turn, the President’s Office said that the priority is to ensure the independence of the national Bank. July 3, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Yakov Smoliy from the post of head of the NBU.
