The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans this year to increase the electricity tariff for the population.
This was stated by Prime-Minister Denis Shmyhal at a meeting of the Committee on energy and housing and communal services.
“We do not intend this year to change the cost of electricity for the population. It is an important indicator, he agreed with the President, and this issue, I think, don’t even need to discuss,” said Smigel.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of energy and the environmental protection of Ukraine intends in the future to abandon the preferential electricity tariff for household consumers (mode special obligation, PSO), considering as a first stage of increase of the tariff for larger domestic consumers to the level of class II industrial users.
Also earlier the Chairman of the National Commission, carrying out state regulation in the energy and utilities (NKREKU), Valery Tarasyuk said that in the medium to long term there is no alternative to alignment of electricity prices for households and industry, and the tariffs for the population will inevitably increase.
