After 2020 the transit of Russian gas to the EU will be via the best route. This was stated press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.
“Gas transit is a question not political, but economic feasibility and economic benefits of predictability, stability and security of supply. Accordingly, the deliveries will be made on that route which is most profitable for the seller, namely to the Russian Federation, and the guarantor of energy security, and for buyers in the Western European countries,” Peskov said on the question about whether Russia to continue gas transit through Ukraine.

As you know, the contract with Russia for the transit of gas via Ukraine expires at the end of 2019, and Russia has called the conditions under which it will save the transit of gas through Ukraine. At the same time Russia plans to build two new offshore pipeline to Europe under the Baltic and Black seas.
The European Commission has repeatedly expressed concern that the pipeline “Nord stream-2”, if built, would threaten Russian gas transit to the EU via Ukraine.
