The EU faces internal problems – ex-Prime Minister of Lithuania

The European Union is experiencing internal problems and is not able to offer Ukraine and other countries of “Eastern partnership” the prospect of EU membership. This was stated by former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius at a press briefing in Kyiv.

“Alas, as far as we know, now, as a member of the European Union, the whole situation from the inside, and seeing that the EU is experiencing problems with the Brexit, refugees and so on, yet we do not see that Ukraine or other States of the “Eastern partnership” in the near future offered the prospect of membership in the European Union”, – said ex-Prime Minister.

  • Lavrov asked the West not to put Ukraine before a choice

“We understand this reality and fight to Ukraine and other countries of “Eastern partnership” received a membership perspective, but my concern looking at the reality that the prospect while that is not offered”, – said Kubilius.

As you know, the Eastern partnership is a policy of the European Union, aims at strengthening relations with the Eastern neighbours of the EU – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

We will remind, earlier Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova have agreed to intensify the agenda of the summit of “Eastern partnership”.
