Consultations of the Russian Ministry of energy with the European Commission, on gas transit through Ukraine is planned for late August, but the European Union has offered to transfer them to the Oct. About it reports “RIA Novosti” with reference to the unnamed representative of the Russian Ministry.
“Ministry of energy of Russia from year to year speaks about the deterioration of the Ukrainian gas transport system, inadequate investment in its modernization and the risks of transit. With the Vice-President of the EC on energy Union Maros Sefcovic we regularly discuss the situation. The next consultation was planned at the end of August, but, unfortunately, the European side proposed to postpone to October,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
We will remind, earlier the Minister of energy of Ukraine Igor Nasalik said that there is a risk of problems with gas transit. As explained Nasalik, difficulties may arise due to the lack of investment in the Ukrainian gas transportation system despite the fact that the volumes of gas transit could increase significantly, if the West will block the construction of the Russian pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
