How to preserve the eyesight, if you work all day at the computer

The rules and regulations of the computer of the Ministry of health are forbidden to work behind a computer screen for more than four hours in a row. For those, the main work of which is connected with a computer, you’re supposed to do regular break and exercises for the eyes. This is stated in the State sanitary rules and norms of work with visual display terminals of electronic computers.

According to the norms, if a person works more than half the workday at the computer, then he must make such breaks:

  • If the entire working day work behind a computer screen, a break every hour for 15 minutes.
  • For those who periodically interrupted from the computer on another job, rest every two hours for 15 minutes.
  • Those who, gaining the data from the keyboard and infrequently, briefly interrupts the view on the computer screen (the computer operators) – break every hour for 10 minutes.

“Best near the computer to put a timer and every hour to take breaks of at least five to ten minutes to warm up. To do simple exercises for the eyes, they are all available and described on the Internet. Must be good lighting, you need to follow hygiene rules on the placement of the screen from the eyes is not less than 50 cm,” – said in an interview with “Today,” the ophthalmologist Oksana Vitovskaya.

In the sanitary rules of the Ministry of health advises to do three types of exercises for the eyes.

Option 1

  • Starting position – sitting, hands on his knees. Close your eyes, greatly straining the eye muscles, count to six then open your eyes, look up to the account of “seven or eight” to look down at the expense of “nine or ten”. Repeat five times.
  • Same initial position. To make a circular motion through the eyes, fixing the gaze in the following provisions: down-left-up-right-down. repeat five times. Then the same five times in the opposite direction.
  • Same initial position. To close his eyes on account of “one-two,” to open their eyes and look at the tip of the nose to the account “three or four”. Repeat five times.
  • Option 2

  • Starting position – sitting. Quickly blink my eyes for 15 seconds.
  • Starting position – sitting at 30-35 cm from the window face. The spot on the glass for five seconds, then take a look at the object behind the window and watch for another five seconds. Repeat 10 times.
  • Starting position – sitting. Quickly translate look diagonally: up right – down left. Then look straight into the distance for six seconds. Quickly translate look diagonally left-up, right and down. Then look into the distance for six seconds. Repeat four or five times.
  • Option 3

  • Starting position – sitting. Quickly blink his eyes, straining eye muscles, for 15 seconds.
  • Starting position – sitting, eyes closed. Opening his eyes to look to the left on account of “times four” to return to the starting point. Also look to the right at the expense of “five to eight”, return back to starting point. Repeat five times.
  • Same initial position. Opening his eyes to look left to “one-three”, then turn right at the expense of “four to six”. To return the gaze forward. Repeat five or six times.   • Sit quietly with your eyes closed, relaxing for 12 seconds.
