Ukraine and USA signed an important agreement on nuclear safety

Today Ukraine and the United States renewed the agreement between the SNRCU and the nuclear regulatory Commission of the United States of America (US NRC) for the exchange of technical information and cooperation in nuclear safety, the press service of the Ministry.

It is reported that the agreement was signed by the head of the State nuclear regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine Boris Stolyarchuk.

He believes that now the Ukrainian side will be able to cooperate with American partners along several directions.

“The exchange of technical information between the domestic regulator and the US NRC is a very important for Ukraine, because it will contribute to the development of the sphere of nuclear safety. To contribute to this cooperation in the framework of the joint scientific and technical programs and projects, training and exchange of experts between the SNRCU and the American regulator,” said Stolyarchuk.

For the first time an Agreement on cooperation between the SNRCU and US NRC was signed on 10 April 2006 in the city of Rockville, Maryland (USA), an amendment to it signed on 21 September 2011 in Vienna (Austria).
