Ukraine’s economy can grow at 7-8% per year – Miklos

Ukraine has the potential lost economic growth at 7-8% per year. This was at the international conference “Ukraine-EU: integration in a changing world” said the chief economic adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Slovakia Ivan Miklos.

“Ukraine needs much more growth than now. After the deep recession of 2014-2016. this year we expect growth. But even this is not enough, because the Central European countries Ukraine’s neighbors grow more than 2.5-3%. Ukraine has far more potential. For example, Ukraine on the 22 place in the world in terms of education, but with life expectancies on the 126 place,” said Miklos.

According to him, Ukraine has the potential lost economic growth at 7-8% per year. “He may not be high, but constant. If reforms continue, I am confident that this potential will be realized. The most important and necessary reforms are already being prepared at the governmental level, it remains to be seen what the Parliament will be held” – summed up the Prime Minister’s adviser.
