In Ukraine will open a branch of the Japanese international cooperation Agency

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with President of the Japan international cooperation Agency (“JICA”) Shinichi Kitaoka, which is the first in the history of relations visit to Ukraine. It is reported by event news-service of the head of state.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for large-scale financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, aimed at supporting reforms and democratic institutions, promoting economic development, and to rebuild the war-torn Donbass region.

During the meeting the focus was on the issues of intensifying bilateral cooperation on implementation in Ukraine of large-scale projects in the sphere of strengthening energy security, infrastructure development and environmental protection with the involvement of Japanese investors.

We also discussed ways of expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and Japan. The parties agreed to open in the near future, the Japanese international cooperation Agency in Ukraine.

We will remind, the government of Japan has begun the process of considering the possibility of granting a visa-free regime for Ukrainians.
