According to him, one of the solutions for the delivery of goods is the procurement of limestone to distant markets from shipping Maritime transport through Mariupol sea trading port, which will allow to bring raw materials to the steel without the use of the stretch Kamysh-Zarya – Volnovaha.
“And here, in the first decade of June the port of Mariupol for the first time will take a batch of limestone for Ilyich iron and steel works – the ship “NAVIOS HIOS” under the flag of Greece class Supramax (length 190 m, width 32,3 m, deadweight of 55.2 thousand tons) brought 52.2 thousand tons of limestone, part of which was unloaded in international waters and taken to the port by the ship “Behcet C”, – said a top Manager.
He stressed that this is the first test shipment of limestone from the UAE. The success of this trial shipments depends on whether the continued procurement of limestone abroad in volumes 50-55 thousand tons per month and delivery to the factories via the port of Mariupol.
The CEO added that in the conditions of insufficient loading port and given the potential of this additional traffic, the group “Metinvest” expects that the port will cope with the task and will solve the issues of call safe, efficient and quality handling at minimum cost for these services for plants.
