Mail.Ru closes its office in Ukraine – CEO

Unit Mail.Ru in Ukraine will be closed. In an interview with Kommersant said the CEO Mail.Ru Boris Dobrodeyev.

“Having offices in the market loses its meaning given the sanctions imposed by Ukraine against us. I’ll note only that it is quite a compact structure,” he said.

Boris Borodaev noted that the services Mail.Ru Group on the territory of Ukraine was leading in their categories. “This is an unprecedented step. Of course, we will do everything possible to somehow compensate for this loss and to help the Ukrainian users to continue to stay in contact with your friends. As for the Ukrainian team projects Mail.Ru Group, all of them offered jobs in the Russian offices of the company,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that the social network “Vkontakte” will close its office in Kiev.

We will remind, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense, which involves a ban on Russian Internet sites and services, including “Mail.ru” (www.mail.ru), social networks “Vkontakte” (www.vk.com) and “Classmates” (www.ok.ru), as well as a number of the services portal of the Russian yandex.ru and other Russian resources.

In turn, the interior Ministry of Ukraine expressed his understanding that in a short time to implement the decision of Council of national security and defense of Ukraine of blocking Russian sites is not possible, however, expect that the providers will to work hard.
