The special adviser to the investigation of the influence of the Kremlin in the presidential elections in the United States was a former Director of the FBI Robert Mueller. This was announced by the U.S. Department of justice, the TV channel “112 Ukraine” with reference to Reuters.

“Former FBI Director Robert Mueller on Wednesday was appointed special adviser in the investigation of “the actions of the Russian government’s influence on the presidential elections of 2016 and related issues”, – stated in the message.

Robert Swan Mueller was the head of the Federal Bureau of investigation United States from 4 September 2001 to 4 September 2013. Under his leadership, began the reform of the Bureau, including, in particular, strengthening of divisions on fight against terrorism and to gather information. The reform of FBI has increased its efforts to cooperate with the CIA, and the number of units, the FBI became accountable to the Director of national intelligence.

We will remind, earlier US state Secretary Rex Tillerson said that RF interference in the elections one of the important issues in the context of building relations between countries and it is “well documented”.
