The Verkhovna Rada Committee on financial policy and banking in the meeting decided to appeal to the President with an appeal as soon as possible to nominate for the position of head of the National Bank of Ukraine. About it reports “112 Ukraine”.
“The situation in the banking system, in fact, very complex. So, my colleagues on the Committee decided to appeal to the President of Ukraine with a call as soon as possible submit to the Verkhovna Rada candidacy for the position of head of the NBU. To delay this appointment impossible. However, all members of the Committee believe it is extremely important to hold public discussion of the candidates, which will make the President”, – said the head of the Committee Sergey Fishing.
According to him, the candidate for the position of head of the NBU should not just have their own vision of development strategy of the banking system, he should publicly present it to the deputies and to respond in detail to all the questions of the members of the relevant Committee.
“It’s important for us to hear how he sees the main tasks of the National Bank for economic development of Ukraine. The new head was ready for daily cooperation with the government and the Verkhovna Rada”, – said the head of the relevant Committee.
The Committee unanimously decided until Friday to agree on the text of the appeal to the President and immediately send it to the presidential administration.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada freed Valeria Gontareva as head of the National Bank of Ukraine only after we find her successor, said earlier the head of the BPP Arthur Gerasimov.
We will remind, on may 10 was the last working day of Valeria Gontareva as head of the National Bank of Ukraine – she was gone for a long vacation, until it will dismiss the Supreme Rada. Before Gontareva said that fulfilled all the tasks set before them.
According to the Constitution, the head of the NBU is appointed by the Verkhovna Rada on representation of the President for a period of 7 years. Gontareva holds the position of head of the NBU almost 3 years.
Gontareva has previously stated that he had discussed possible candidates for the post of head of the NBU Poroshenko in January.
