The foreign Ministers of the countries of Europe voiced its position on sanctions against Russia

The Minister of foreign Affairs of great Britain, Boris Johnson has opposed the easing of the EU sanctions against Russia. This he said on the eve of the meeting of the EU Council on foreign Affairs in Brussels

“The UK will insist that the reasons to reduce sanctions now, no. We need to continue to exert pressure on Russia”, – said the head of the British foreign office..

The same view was expressed by the foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius.

“At least, sanctions should be retained, because we see no reason to remove them,” said Linkevičius.

For his part, the Minister of foreign Affairs and cooperation of Spain, Alfonso Dastis Casado also stated the importance of maintaining sanctions against Russia.

“It is necessary to achieve full implementation of the Minsk agreements. Only under this condition, it will be possible to reconsider the policy of sanctions,” – said the Minister to journalists in Brussels.

Recall, EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini said that she was not aware of a possible change of policy towards Ukraine with a new President of Donald trump in the U.S., but the EU is adamant in not recognizing the annexation of the Crimea and of the need for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
