How to improve mental development of the child: expert advice

Regular consumption of dairy products with omega 3 for three months improves the mental development and child health from 15% to 30%.

It turned out after clinical studies baby food which was conducted by the Institute of Pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology NAMS of Ukraine.

The study experts recommend that parents review the approach to child diet with a focus on enriching it with vitamins, minerals and unsaturated fatty acids. In Ukraine today represents one line of dairy products that contains essential omega-3 and vitamin D and calcium.

The experts of the Institute for three months watched diet 69 second grade students regular Kiev Lyceum: 35 students daily intake of dairy products with omega-3 instead of the usual dairy products, 34 students received a standard diet.

Test Rufe, taken in the beginning of the study, fixed in 40% of children lack of physical activity. The standard diet of children of primary school age in the capital, showed 2-3 times lower level of consumption of dairy products, eggs, cheese for kids; meat products in the diet of the child exceed the norm by 2-2,5 times, while meat consumption below the norm of 1.5-2%, fish – by 4-5 times, which actually means a great shortage of fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6) are not synthesized by the body.

The study found that children consuming dairy products with omega-3, the performance of tests on logic, mechanical, memory, thinking and perception increased from 15% to 30%. Nine children (25%) specialists of the Institute was transferred to a group with high work capacity. Physical and intellectual values of other study participants remained at the same level.

Omega-3 is responsible for regeneration and cell growth, dominates the composition of gray matter and is responsible for nervous system function and the child’s perspective. Thus, in infants in the brain tissue content of omega-3 – 35-40%, in the retina at 60%.

Omega-3 is an essential component of a healthy immune system and is responsible for his intellectual development, emotional state, formation of abilities and skills. Children of primary school age who have a lack of omega-3 suffer from hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder.

The study confirmed that omega-3 in dairy products as effectively for the development of the child’s body, as other products that contain omega-3 (fish, nuts, vegetable oils and pulses). Usually children up to the age of 7-8 years do not like or do not have time to eat the kind of food in sufficient quantity. In addition, the child at this age often eats outside the home, complicating the process of monitoring proper nutrition.

Expert advice on nutrition for parents of children of school age:

  • the causes of the imbalance of children’s diet does not always explain the possibilities of the family budget. Key rules useful power is always relevant: to teach the child to drink more plain water, close to lunch, eat more natural foods (like lean meat instead of sausage), vegetables and fruits (instead of sugary cakes and pastries). Don’t forget about fatty acids that are not synthesized by the body, a vitamin complex;
  • parents should understand that regular physical activity is a critical component of the harmonious development of the child, and from childhood to instill in him a love of sports and an active lifestyle;
  • children often copy the behavior of parents and accept family rules a priori. Therefore it is not just to persuade your child to eat right, it is better to show it by example, and then following the rules of healthy lifestyles will occur easily and quickly.
