Delay the introduction of a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union related to elections of President in France, reports “Polish radio” with reference to Western diplomats.
“It is possible that the decision of the EU Council on visa liberalisation will be taken in may, although this is not confirmed yet. If this happens, it is already summer, the Ukrainians will be able to travel to the EU without visas,” said one of the diplomats of the EU.
Provided that the official officials explain the absence of a deadline in this matter the procedural aspects as well as the desire to give this important event the “official background”, and the possibility of its announcement in the presence of representatives of the highest authorities of Ukraine.
“However, European diplomats have also acknowledged that the EU does not want to rush in this business because of the presidential elections in France scheduled for the turn of April and may. Immigration and border security are among the main themes of the election campaign. The abolition of visas for the EU citizens more than 40 million of the country can be used by the radicals and eurosceptics fear EU diplomats”, – reports the edition.
We will remind, earlier the head of the EU delegation to Ukraine Hugh Mingarelli said that in June Ukraine may get visa-free regime.
