On the anniversary of the adoption of the UN resolution Kyiv reminded Moscow that Crimea is necessary to return

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the third anniversary of the adoption of the resolution of the UN General Assembly “Territorial integrity of Ukraine” (68/262) requires the Russian Federation to end its occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol. Ukraine, for its part, will continue to take steps to counter Russian aggression. This is stated in the relevant statement of the MFA of Ukraine.

In a statement the foreign Ministry recalled that on 27 March marks three years since the adoption of UN General Assembly resolution “Territorial integrity of Ukraine” (68/262), where the international community confirmed the necessity of strict compliance by States with their obligations under international law and its commitment to the sovereignty, political independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

In the resolution it is about preventing recognition of any changes of status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol based on the illegal referendum.

“Despite this clear demand of the international community, during these three years the Russian Federation not only has not abandoned its aggressive actions, but continues to grossly violate the UN Charter and the basic norms and principles of international law, carrying out a temporary occupation of the Crimean Peninsula, large-scale oppression of human rights, and overt military aggression in the Donbass”, – stressed the foreign Ministry.

Recognition of a significant deterioration in human rights in the Crimea was the adoption by the UN General Assembly on 19 December 2016 resolution “on the Situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol (Ukraine)” (71/205), which are recorded and condemned systematic human rights violations committed by the Russian occupying power.

The UN General Assembly, condemning the temporary Russian occupation of the Crimea, calls on Russia to discharge all its obligations as a state-occupier, including by ending human rights violations in the Crimea.

“Ukraine demands from the Russian Federation to end its occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol and to fully comply with the resolutions of the UN General Assembly 68/262 and 71/205. Ukraine will continue to implement all measures provided by international law, the steps to counter the aggression of the Russian Federation, improving the situation of Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied territories, restoration of its territorial integrity and compensation for losses the Russian side,” – said in a statement the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

Recall nedvano the Ministry of foreign Affairs of France has expressed concern over the militarization of the Russia-occupied Crimea.

Earlier, the head of the national security Agency USA (NSA) Admiral Michael Rogers said that for Russia the issue of Ukraine is of national interest, therefore, occupied the Crimea, she does not intend to return.
