In Ukraine will commemorate the victims of the “Great terror” of 1937-1938

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree “On measures in connection with the 80th anniversary of the “Great terror” – the mass political repressions on the territory of Ukraine of 1937-1938″.

As reported the press service of the President, the main purpose of the decree No. 75/2017 is a celebration of memory of victims of the “Great terror”, report to the Ukrainian society and world community objective information about the crimes committed in the twentieth century the Communist totalitarian regime in Ukraine and the promotion in society of the ideals of humanism.

According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in a monthly term it is entrusted to form the organizing Committee on preparation and holding of events in connection with the 80th anniversary of the mass political repression of 1937-1938, to develop and approve within three months the action plan for 2017-2018, and to ensure its implementation.

The decree also defined a number of tasks for Central and local Executive bodies regarding the holding of memorial events, extensive information campaigns, further research and continue the search operation in the specified topic, as well as the development of the National historical and memorial preserve “bykivnya graves.”
