The cooperation between Armenia and Artsakh (Karabakh) is the Armenian Diaspora has a big role in ensuring the safe existence of the Armenian people, as well as in the promotion of national interests and the effective implementation of the goals. This was discussed at different levels, including at the highest. The meeting of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with representatives of Armenian communities of Europe within the framework of the official visit of the President of France, and raised during this meeting the issues to prove it.
Not coincidentally, during the meeting it was stressed the importance of the work on a new quality and content of cooperation of Armenia with the Diaspora. Diaspora representatives were invited to participate directly in the formulation and implementation of development policies of different sectors of the economy and other spheres in Armenia. The idea of an updated agenda with the Diaspora, the President has invested in the formula of “mutual trust, unity and responsibility.”
It is noteworthy that the holding of the meeting in Paris with representatives of the Armenian communities in all European countries, not just France, it became a tradition after the first pan-Armenian tour of Serzh Sargsyan in 2009. The purpose of this tradition is to develop the current level of interaction with the Diaspora, and to increase the level of coordination of joint efforts.
If you had one of the main, the main issues on the agenda of the Diaspora was the issue of international recognition and condemnation and elimination of consequences of Armenian genocide, today, this agenda has expanded. Given the growing external challenges facing Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic today, the priority issues of cooperation of Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora are Karabakh problem, its just, peaceful settlement and international recognition of Artsakh’s independence.
Today, national attention is paid also to the Syrian-Armenians. The Armenians in Syria during which lasted nearly six years of conflict had always felt the support of Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora Armenian communities. Not coincidentally, during these years Armenia has hosted more than 20 thousand Syrian refugees. It is noteworthy that the ratio of the number of refugees total number of population of Armenia among European countries ranked third.
Of the dialogue with the Diaspora also include issues of internal political processes of Armenia, including constitutional reform, a new electoral code assigned to the parliamentary elections. These questions also touched upon the Armenian President during a meeting with representatives of Armenian communities of Europe in France, stressing the importance of the process of formation of pan-Armenian civil society. In this regard, it is noteworthy that the desire to participate in the parliamentary elections in Armenia in the role of observers expressed a number of representatives of the Diaspora.
Summing up, it should be noted that in recent years the cooperation between Armenia — Artsakh — Diaspora has risen to a new level, with the aim to achieve more efficient use of common capacities in the name of promoting national interests. And for even greater organization and coordination in the implementation of this potential, it is also necessary to develop a new format of cooperation more effective.
